BI Malang Raises Batik Potential to Global Market

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In order to raise the potential of batik, especially batik products fostered by the Bank Indonesia Malang Representative Office in seven regencies/cities, Bank Indonesia held an UMKM Fair at Malang Town Square (Matos), Saturday (16/12).

Head of Bank Indonesia Malang Representative Office, Dudi Herawadi, said that in addition to being a promotional event, this event is also a learning event for batik UMKM actors. "This is one of our efforts to raise the potential of batik which has so far been in villages and small alleys to the global market," he explained.

"So the batik makers are not only focused on the area where they produce. They can learn and know what the market tastes are like. Thus, they can later meet market demand," he added.

He further said, in addition to providing coaching and various assistance, the batik makers are also assisted in terms of marketing. "So far, one of the obstacles for craftsmen is marketing. And because of that, we always hold event from local to national scale. Even if there is event "Internationally, we always involve," explained Dudi.

Of the Rp 40 trillion revolving credit fund, he continued, Rp 14 trillion is allocated for MSMEs, including batik MSME actors. "From all that, it is hoped that batik, which is the nation's wealth, can meet the market and compete in the global market," concluded Dudi. (say/yon)
