Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Regional Management of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) of Malang City for the 2016-2021 term was inaugurated by the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton in the Meeting Room of Malang City Hall, Thursday (21/12). On this occasion, the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton revealed that the role of the mosque today is not only as a place of worship, but must also be a place of education.

In order to revive the mosque, one of the efforts of the Malang City Government is to publish Circular Letter of the Mayor of Malang regarding the Appeal to Perform Congregational Prayers (Congregational Prayer Movement at the Beginning of Time).
"The appeal to pray in congregation is not only for mental development and strengthening, more than that, it is to enliven the mosque," explained Abah Anton, Thursday (21/12).
In the current era of globalization, he added, the role and function of mosques must be developed not only as places of worship, but more than that, mosques must also be centers for teaching Islamic religion to children.
By having a mosque as a place for children's education, it is hoped that the next generation will not be influenced by various teachings that deviate from Islam and the Koran. The mosque also functions as a place of unification for Muslims.
"The city government hopes that with the inauguration of DMI, the mosque can be further prospered and have a greater impact on the welfare of the community," hoped Abah Anton.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of DMI East Java, Drs. HM Roziqi congratulated the Management of DMI Malang City who had been inaugurated. "Hopefully they can carry out the mandate. We all know that the mosque is an extraordinary facility and has an important role as a center for Islamic religious education," explained Roziqi.
The inauguration of the DMI Malang City Regional Management was also filled with a regional work meeting (Rakerda) agenda that discussed strategic matters for the development of the mosque in the future. (cah/yon)
