Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Participating in educating the public in Malang City to jointly make the 2018 Pilkada (Regional Head Election) a success, the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Malang in collaboration with the Malang City General Election Commission (KPU) held a 2018 Malang City Pilkada Socialization with the theme of the Role of the Media Towards Pilkada Success at the IKIP Budi Utomo (IBU) Malang Campus, Friday (22/12).
In addition to being attended by all press personnel in Malang City, the socialization attended directly by the team from the Malang City KPU also involved students. The involvement of students who are mostly new voters is expected to be able to reduce the number of golput (not voting) in the 2018 Pilkada.
The Head of PWI Malang Raya, Ariful Huda, revealed that this activity is an activity of PWI Malang City together with KPU Malang City to jointly make the 2018 Pilkada a success. It is hoped that socialization activities like this can educate the public to know more details about the 2018 Pilkada, from the preparations to the election procedures.
"Journalists are one of the pillars of democracy. Through this activity we want to provide proper education related to the implementation of the 2018 Pilkada," explained Arif, Friday (22/12).
Arif added, in addition to the mayoral election (Malang) in 2018, there will also be a gubernatorial election in East Java. So, according to him, with this socialization, the implementation of the Pilkada can be even better. Where Malang City can get the best leader, as well as the Governor of East Java and the Pilkada runs smoothly.
Present as speakers were Malang City KPU Commissioner Azhari Husein, Malang City Panwaslu Chairman Alim Mustofa, and Political Expert from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Asep Nurjaman. (cah/yon)
