Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton is very proud and appreciates the achievements of Malang City athletes who have competed in Lumajang.

"We hope that this award can further motivate athletes and young people in Malang City to always be enthusiastic about achieving," hoped the man who is usually called Abah Anton, Monday (22/1).

The potential of these young athletes will continue to be monitored by the Malang City Government so that the great potential that already exists will continue to develop. The hope is that not only in this POR SD/MI event, the young athletes will achieve achievements, but in the future they can be even more successful at the East Java regional, national, and even international levels.

Yudhi Purwanto, the coach of the Malang City contingent for archery, said he was happy with the bonus given by the Malang City Government. According to him, this is one form of attention from the Malang City Government to the athletes who have achieved.

The bonus given is a motivation for coaches to be more serious in producing high-achieving athletes. "Likewise for athletes, bonuses like this make them more enthusiastic in achieving achievements. Because when they achieve, there will definitely be awards," explained Yudhi.

Despite having achieved achievements in the POR SD/MI event, he hopes that Malang City archery athletes will not be complacent. He said that there were still many weaknesses when competing in Lumajang.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Malang City, Drs. Nuzul Nurcahyono, said that the bonus was given to motivate athletes to achieve more in their respective sports.

"The initial target in the SD/MI POR was to enter the top ten, but the Malang City contingent actually won third place overall," he explained. (cah/yon)
