Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The Center for the Study of Religion and Multiculturalism, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (PUSAM UMM) held a Pancasila Colloquium with the theme 'Early Year Reflection: Pancasila as a Living Values'. This colloquium was held in the UMM Senate Meeting Room, Monday (22/1).

By holding this colloquium, it is hoped that it can open the minds of the participants who attend to understand the ins and outs of Pancasila itself.
On this occasion, PUSAM UMM invited four speakers who are very expert in their fields. The four speakers are the Deputy for Advocacy of the Presidential Working Unit for Pancasila Ideology Development (UKP-PIP) Prof. Dr. Hariyono, M.Pd., Professor of the Widya Sasana Malang College of Philosophy and Theology (STFT) Prof. Dr. Rm. FX Eko Armada Riyanto, Program Officer Islam and Development Yayasan The Asia Foundation Dr. Budhy Munawar Rachman, and academics from the UMM Postgraduate Education Policy and Development Masters Study Program Dr. Agustinus, M.Pd.
Deputy for Advocacy of UKP-PIP, Hariyono, explained that Pancasila is not only the responsibility of state apparatus, but is the responsibility of the entire Indonesian nation.
"This is intended so that Pancasila no longer becomes a monopoly of truth from a regime or power as happened in the past," said Hariyono.
The next resource person, Budhy Munawar Rachman, said that currently Pancasila is considered a social contract. He also explained that at that point Pancasila became a shared value inherited by its founders.
"In short, in Pancasila there are five values, namely the values of divinity, humanity, unity, deliberation for democracy and justice. To bring these values to life in society, a relationship between one value and another is also needed, so these values do not stand alone," he explained.
On the other hand, Eko Armada Riyanto explained the history of the formation of Pancasila. According to him, the way we understand the nation is by understanding historical research including the history of Pancasila. He also said that the discriminatory attitudes that often occur today can tarnish the narrative of Pancasila itself.
"Exclusivism is not only contrary to Pancasila, but also contrary to the nature of the nation," he explained.
The appeal to no longer discuss and question ideology was conveyed by Agustinus. However, according to him, what should be questioned is how to determine the best program for the nation.
"We should focus more on discussing government programs aimed at the nation," he said. (hms/say/yon)
