Malang Customs Destroys Goods Resulting from Action

On this occasion, the Malang City Police Chief, Dandim 0833 Malang City, religious leaders, local residents, and other related parties were also present and witnessed the destruction of the items resulting from the action.

The illegal goods are the result of 313 actions from May 15 to December 9, 2017. These illegal actions have had an impact on hindering state revenues from the excise sector, which reached more than IDR 309 million.

Head of KPPBC TMC Malang, Rudy Hery Kurniawan said that the destruction of various illegal goods by Malang Customs was a manifestation of the real role of Customs as community protector. "The role here is to protect the public from the entry of imported goods and the circulation of dangerous goods, such as cigarettes and drinks containing ethyl alcohol," he explained.

The 313 actions consisted of 257 actions against goods from postal deliveries, 46 actions against excise goods made from tobacco, and ten actions against excise goods made from beverages containing ethyl alcohol.

Rudy continued that the follow-up to handling of evidence resulting from the action that violates the Customs and Excise Law is to determine it as state property, namely by destroying it.

The goods destroyed were excise goods from tobacco products in the form of SKT and SKM cigarettes totaling 2.309.707 sticks, 97 kilograms of sliced ​​tobacco, and 1.025 liters of various brands of alcoholic beverages.

In addition, various postal items in the form of cosmetics, food, supplements and illegal drugs totaling 1.644 items were also destroyed.

In the future, Rudy explained, Customs will continue to increase cooperation with various parties, so that it is hoped that it can reduce the circulation of goods without excise and state revenues can be even greater.
