Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City announced the results of the verification of political parties (parpol) participating in the election at the KPU Office of Malang City, Friday (2/2). The results, of the 15 political parties, more than 90 percent have met the requirements. However, there is still one political party, namely PKPI, which was declared to have not passed the verification, but the KPU is still giving a grace period to make improvements.
In addition, there are also three political parties that have not fulfilled the 30 percent representation of female members, namely PPP, Berkarya Party and PSI. For PKPI, the KPU gave three days to make improvements. Some of PKPI's shortcomings were mentioned, among others, in terms of management, membership, office domicile and status.
This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Malang City KPU, Zainudin after the announcement of the verification results. He said that if until February 5, 2018 PKPI cannot fulfill it, then the KPU will declare that it does not meet the requirements and cannot participate or cannot become a political party participating in the election.
Meanwhile, women's representation for PPP is 28 percent, Berkarya Party 25 percent and PSI 24 percent. Although the amount is within the safe limit, the Malang City KPU encourages the three political parties to be able to fulfill the representation of female members of 30 percent.
"This is in accordance with the mandate of the applicable regulations, and on February 6, 2018, the KPU will re-announce the results of the final verification, whether there are still political parties that did not pass," explained Zainudin.
From the results of yesterday's political party verification, Zainudin hopes that political parties that have not met the requirements, should immediately fulfill them as soon as possible and if possible before February 5. "Thus, from the 15 political parties participating in the election can participate in the democratic party well," concluded Zainudin. (say/yon)
