10 Tons of Humanitarian Aid for Asmat Residents Dispatched

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Various humanitarian aid for Asmat residents, Papua was sent from Abdulrachman Saleh Malang Air Force Base Airport, Saturday (10/2/2018). The aid weighing approximately 10 tons consisted of medicines, food, clothing, blankets, clothing, and so on.

Commander of Abdulrachman Saleh Malang Air Force Base, Marsma TNI Julexi Tambayong said, in the future if the community is still enthusiastic about collecting and distributing aid, the TNI ranks in particular are ready to accommodate and send it.

Various humanitarian aids collected in the past month came from various groups, starting from the Forkopimda ranks, residents, and communities. The aid was sent using a Hercules aircraft from Abdulrahman Saleh Air Base witnessed by the Malang Forkopimda ranks.

Because the aid shipment will depart during the day, the plane will first transit in Ambon. "If this plane departs in the morning, it can go directly to the nearest airport to the Asmat people, namely Ewer Airport. After that, the aid will be transported by a smaller plane, namely the Cassa plane that has been prepared by the local TNI AU," said Danlanud.

Meanwhile, Commander of Divif II Kostrad Malang, Major General Agus Sukardi also said that if later the community and various parties still want to provide assistance for Asmat residents, then they are welcome and the TNI is ready to send it. "If the amount of assistance reaches 10 tons or more, then the Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base will provide another Hercules aircraft," he said.

For further shipments, he continued, for fuel needs if needed, the TNI ranks will also send fuel needed by Asmat residents. "Actually, fuel can be sent at this time, but it is not possible because the number of goods is very large and there are other considerations," he added.

"With this concern and delivery of aid, it is hoped that it can ease the burden of Asmat residents. And the extraordinary event due to malnutrition will soon end," concluded Major General Agus. (say/yon)
