Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Bhayangkari and Urkes Polres Malang City together with the Malang City Health Office held a social activity providing immunization to prevent diphtheria, Saturday (10/2/2018). The event held in the Rupatama Room of Malang City Police Headquarters was attended by hundreds of children and adults.
Head of Kemala Bhayangkari Polres Malang City, Susi Asfuri said that this event was held as a form of concern from the wives of police officers to prevent the diphtheria outbreak, especially in Malang City.
"Diphtheria is a very dangerous epidemic and can threaten someone's life. Therefore, we are taking this action to save the future generation of the nation, especially from the threat of this deadly virus," he added.
Separately, Head of Surveillance and Immunization Section of Disease Prevention and Control of the Malang City Health Office, Anik Hertin Pratiwi, S.Kep.Ners., MM. said that this immunization is very much needed, even though the current threat of diphtheria in Malang City is quite low. "This year there was one case, but it was handled well," she said.
Anik appealed to all parties to be vigilant and concerned so that the threat of diphtheria outbreaks does not continue to hit. "Since 2011, in Malang City there have been many cases of diphtheria. However, thanks to the concern of all parties, until now it has continued to decline," he added.
"In order for someone to be protected and protected from this virus, they must undergo routine immunization seven times. Immunization must be given when the child is 2,3 and 4 months old. Next, when the child is 1,6 months old, grades 1, 2 and 5 of elementary school and the last one every 10 years," he explained further. (say/yon)
