Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – To foster a love for the environment from an early age, KB/BA Restu 1 held a thousand flower planting activity at Slamet Park, Malang City, Saturday (10/2/2018).
No half measures, 1.750 flower seedlings were planted at the event which was attended directly by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton.
Head of KB/BA Restu 1, Siti Ruqoiyah, confirmed that there were 1.750 ornamental plants planted by her students in Slamet Park.
"This activity is character education for children so that they love the environment from an early age," said Yaya, the nickname of Siti Ruqoiyah, Saturday (10/2/2018).
Some types of plants planted this time include water hyacinth, Japanese jasmine, quill flowers, irises, and several other types of flowers.
"There are 225 children who participated in this activity. We hope that with this activity, Malang City can be even more beautiful," he hoped.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, in his speech expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students of KB/BA Restu 1. According to him, learning to love the environment from an early age is very good for character building.
"We hope that this activity can continue to be developed. This can be a real example for other schools in Malang City to educate with very useful activities," explained the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
He added that flower planting and environmental love activities like this are very much in line with the Malang City Government's program to restore Malang City's nickname as the Flower City. The more plants/flowers there are in various corners of the city will certainly add to the beauty and coolness of Malang City. (cah/yon)
