Immediately Re-register Your Prepaid Card to Avoid Blocking

Jakarta, 21 February 2018 – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics' Prepaid Card Re-registration Program has started since October 31, 2017. This program is a manifestation of the state's presence to protect the public from fraud, crime, and violations of the law using mobile phones and other electronic media. Prepaid Card Re-registration will enter the deadline on February 28, 2018.

As of February 21, 2018 at 07.30 WIB, 250.892.396 customers have successfully registered. The Ministry of Communication and Information urges old customers to immediately re-register before February 28, 2018 to avoid a buildup of registration queues. If old customers do not register by the deadline, they will be subject to gradual blocking of telecommunications services.

The first stage of blocking is carried out for outgoing telephone and SMS services, but customers can still receive incoming telephone and SMS and access the internet. The second stage, incoming and outgoing telephone and SMS services are blocked, customers can only use internet services. While for the final stage, incoming and outgoing telephone and SMS services as well as internet services cannot be used if customers have not re-registered.

However, during the gradual blocking period, people can still register via SMS, website, or directly visit their respective operator outlets. The special SMS registration service to 4444 can be used by people who want to register with the note that the prepaid card is still in the active/grace period.

Facing the end of the Prepaid Card Re-registration period, the Director General of Postal and Informatics Services at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Ahmad M. Ramli, re-emphasized several points to the public using prepaid cellular card services, namely:
1. Customers and the public are reminded to use NIK and KK Number data correctly and lawfully.
2. Using other people's NIK and KK Number data without permission is prohibited and is a violation of the law.
3. The public is also asked not to register with NIK and KK numbers uploaded by irresponsible parties on the internet network.

For customers who have not registered, they are expected to follow the correct format, and if they experience problems related to population data, customers are expected to contact the local Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil).

The government guarantees the security of prepaid card customer data, because cellular service operators are prohibited from leaking customers' personal data. If a violation occurs, legal sanctions will be imposed. Not only that, the government also requires ISO 27001 certification for cellular service operators that regulate information security in managing customer data.

So what are you waiting for, immediately re-register your prepaid card now. Easy, safe, and free.
