The implementation of this activity is an effort to preserve the diversity of Indonesian culture as a potential to enrich and unite society in the era of digital technology which is vulnerable to hoax information and hate speech.

Director General of IKP Kemkominfo Dra. Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, M.Si who was present to open this event invited all Indonesian people to be wise in using social media.

Through the ludrukan and prayers for the country held this time, according to Niken, it will provide literacy to the public about the importance of being wise in using social media.

"What we do is social media literacy in collaboration with Pegiat Budaya Nusantara and Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Malang and the local government," said Niken.

In addition to being a spectacle, he said, ludrukan is also a demand for society to be aware of negative information received by society. With the development of information technology, lately society has been very active on social media which should be used as a communication tool. However, lately social media has been filled with negative information.

Niken further said that on social media many people were spreading the news. hoax or fake news, hate speech, SARA issues, and also provocations that have the potential to divide the nation.

"There are issues that discredit the government every day, even though the reality is not like that. So there are indeed some people who spread negative news with the aim of spreading hatred and creating emotions. Of course we don't want this," he continued.

Thus, the government in this case the Ministry of Communication and Information cannot work alone to combat hoaxes. But it requires cooperation with local governments, religious leaders, community leaders, and the younger generation to restore harmony in Indonesia. (ram/yon)
