Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Indonesian Music Museum (MMI) located on Jl. Nusakambangan, Malang City now has tens of thousands of collections.

The establishment of MMI began in 2009, when Hengky Herwanto and his fellow hobbyists founded the Malang Singing Gallery (GMB) located on Jl Puncak Borobudur Block-407, Griya Shanta Housing Complex, Malang City.
As time goes by, GMB is now known as MMI, which is now a tourist and learning destination for students from various regions.
In fact, many professors from abroad have conducted studies at this museum. In the future, Hengky plans to continue to add to his collection so that it will further increase the attraction for visitors.
Starting from just a hobby and his love for music since 2009, Hengky Herwanto collected various types of cassettes, vinyl records and VCDs for his personal collection. Over time, many people, especially music lovers, handed over their collections.
With the increasing number of collections, this eccentric looking man, when met at his museum on Friday (02/03), felt entrusted and responsible for maintaining and preserving the various collections of music genres.
From here, Hengky had the desire to create a special place to collect his collection, and so that it could also be used as a learning tool for the nation's generation.
With this museum, Hengky hopes that the nation's cultural assets will not be damaged, extinct and even stolen by other nations, and can be passed on to children and grandchildren. Currently, the 61-year-old man has 25 thousand collections consisting of cassette tapes, vinyl records, books and old magazines.
Various traditional musical instruments are neatly arranged in one of the rooms of this museum. And no less interesting, items from Guruh Soekarno Putra also have a special place, thus adding to the attraction of visitors or tourists.
In addition to being a tourist and learning destination, this museum is also a reference for research by students from within and outside the country, such as from the Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Singapore, Japan, England and Korea.
With the existence of this museum, it is expected to be a reference for learning and educational tourism destination so that in the future it will help educate the nation's future generations and also significantly increase tourist visits to Malang City. (say/yon)
