Malang City Police Chief Urges Banks to Increase Security

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City Police Chief AKBP Asfuri and his staff conducted an inspection of several ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines) in Malang City, Monday (26/3). This is in order to anticipate any actions skimming or activities related to attempts to illegally steal data from the magnetic strip of an ATM card to gain control over an account.

The Malang City Police Chief immediately checked the security of the ATM machine, such as the CCTV camera. (Clost-circuit television), as well as other technical matters in ATM machines.

Not only checking, the Malang City Police Chief also tried to insert an ATM card to ensure the security of the machine. "From several ATM machines, it turns out that the level of security is still lacking, and the Banking must be more vigilant. Such as the absence of CCTV cameras and covers keypad to enter the ATM PIN," he said.

Several banking representatives including from Bank Indonesia Malang participated in this inspection, so that the Malang City Police Chief immediately conveyed the results of his findings to continue to synergize with banking and provide an appeal to the public to be more vigilant, especially when using ATM machines in relatively quiet places.

"Before inserting an ATM card, check for anything suspicious and close the machine's keypad when entering the PIN number. Don't easily trust people you just met and want to help when there is a problem with the ATM machine. If that happens, immediately report it to the bank concerned," appealed AKBP Asfuri.

Although so far there have been no reports to the Malang City Police Headquarters regarding this case. skimming, but AKBP Asfuri appealed and hoped that the public would be more vigilant.
