Sukmawati Soekarnoputri Invites All Parties to Care About Arts and Culture

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – One of the daughters of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Diah Mutiara Sukmawati Soekarnoputri continues to strive to encourage all elements of the nation, including the Government, to also have concern for arts and culture to various historical objects. Thus, all of that can later be used as learning materials and can be passed on to future generations of the nation.

On the other hand, art and culture are also the characteristics and identity of a civilized nation. It is sad to see that the current generation of the nation has little concern in maintaining and preserving the art and culture inherited from their ancestors. The lifestyle and mindset of today's young people are still dominated by foreign culture and seem indifferent to their own national culture.

Some of these things were conveyed by Sukmawati Soekarnoputri when visiting the Indonesian Music Museum (MMI) in Malang City, Monday (26/3) night. Sukmawati also criticized the existence of MMI, because according to her, to be called a museum is still not appropriate and it is more appropriate to be called a place to store collections of musical art objects.

He said that this museum is an example of the lack of concern of various parties, such as art and culture activists, musicians, and the local government. "When talking about museums, we have to learn a lot from other regions and also abroad, such as China. From the side IT, lighting arrangement, number of collections and arrangement of collections and others, we have to learn a lot. So that a museum can be a means of learning and can be passed on to the next generation," he explained.

"If various parties have concern, then in the future it is hoped that various cultural arts inherited from ancestors can be well maintained, can be studied and inherited by the children and grandchildren of this nation's heirs. So that the dignity and honor of this nation is also well maintained," concluded Sukmawati. (say/yon)
