Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over 5.153 land title certificates to Malang Raya residents at the Ken Arok GOR Malang, Monday (28/3) afternoon. In his speech, President Jokowi said that the handover of land title certificates to the community is one of the government programs that has been continuously implemented since last year.

This is done considering the many disputes that occur in society due to the absence of land title certificates. "These disputes often occur between one person and another, between one person and a company or even with other parties," said President Jokowi.

"The certificate is written legal evidence of land rights. This certificate must be held by the community, by the people as soon as possible. If you already hold this (certificate), no one will dare (to sue)," he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of BPN RI Dr. Sofyan A Djalil, SH, MA, MALD in his report said that in accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2023 all land in East Java Province will have certificates. "In 2018, 1,6 million certificates will be issued for East Java," he said.

On that occasion, Jokowi also requested that after the certificate is received by the community, it be immediately laminated and photocopied. This is done so that if the certificate is lost, the photocopy is still there, making it easy to take care of it at the BPN office.

The President also reminded certificate holders to think first before pledging or guaranteeing the certificate to obtain a loan from a bank.

"Please calculate, calculate whether or not you can pay in installments every month. Whether or not you can pay in installments every month, the interest or the principal, if not, don't," the President reminded.

The President said that the loans obtained must be used for productive things such as business capital, not for consumptive things such as buying a car or motorbike.

"If you get Rp300 million, use it all for working capital, for investment capital, save the profits. Please buy the car from the profits, buy a motorbike from the business profits, not from borrowed money," added President Jokowi again.

Also present on the occasion were among others Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, East Java Governor Soekarwo, and Acting Mayor of Malang Wahid Wahyudi. (say/yon)
