That was what was conveyed by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH at the opening of the 2018 Cultural Performance held in the front yard of Malang City Hall, Sunday night (8/4).

In one of the series of activities to enliven the 104th anniversary of Malang City, dozens of traditional arts and cultures and hundreds of artists showed off their talents. Wasto emphasized that the Malang City Government has a high concern for various traditional arts and cultures which are the heritage of the nation's ancestors.

Like jaranan, traditional Javanese dance, Bantengan, ludruk and so on must be preserved for all time. "In order for various arts to remain sustainable, various cultural events will continue to be held by the Malang City Government. The Malang City Government will also collaborate with hotel and restaurant associations so that these arts and cultures can be enjoyed by tourists," added Wasto.

This is done considering the level of tourist visits to Malang City, especially foreign tourists from time to time has increased significantly. Currently in Malang City there are also several villages labeled as art and culture villages, such as in the Polowijen Sub-district area. "With the concern and facilitation from the local government, in the future various traditional arts and cultures will always be well maintained and can be inherited by young people as the next generation of the nation," concluded Wasto.
