Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia continues to collaborate with various parties, including universities. Educational institutions are also asked to be more selective and intensive in efforts to suppress the circulation and abuse of drugs. Young people as the next generation of the nation must be free from the dangers of drugs.

In this way, in the future, there will be born prospective leaders who can be relied upon and bring progress to the nation. The future of a nation will be determined by the quality of the next generation, especially the young generation.

That was what was conveyed by the Head of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, Commissioner General of Police Drs. Heru Winarko, SH when giving a guest lecture themed 'The Role of the State and Universities in the Prevention and Eradication of Drugs' in front of Brawijaya University students and invited guests, Tuesday (10/04).

On this occasion, the BNN and Brawijaya University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU/Memorandum of Understanding) as an effort to suppress the circulation and abuse of narcotics.

"Until now, the number of drug distribution and abuse in Indonesia is quite worrying, especially among the younger generation. Based on BNN data, 50 percent of drug users are experimenters and of that number, most are young people," explained Komjen Heru.

He also appealed to all universities to be aware of the circulation of various illicit goods and to be the driving force in preventing it. "Every new student admission must be given a urine test, and conduct regular tests. If there are indications of drug abuse, the campus must immediately contact the local BNN so that it can be handled immediately," Heru invited.

With various efforts from BNN, he continued, it is hoped that in the future the circulation and abuse of drugs can be suppressed as much as possible, especially among the younger generation. On the other hand, BNN appreciates the Kemenkumham program which in the near future will immediately realize a special correctional institution for drug dealers. (say/yon)
