MSME Contribution to Economy Reaches 60%

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In order to boost the existence and promotion of various products from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and to welcome the 104th Anniversary of Malang City, the Malang City Government through the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Enterprises Office held the Malang City Expo 2018 in the area outside the Gajayana Stadium Malang. Hundreds of MSMEs from various regions in Indonesia participated in the MCE 2018 this time.

Various home industry products ranging from food products, beverages, batik, crafts and rattan products, are neatly arranged in the booths that have been provided. There are also booths from BPJS, Banking and Immigration that also enliven the event.

Deputy for Production and Marketing of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, I Wayan Dipta, when opening the 2018 Malang City Expo, Wednesday (11/4), said that event like this is very much needed. "In addition to being a promotional event, a moment like this is proof of existence for MSMEs so that in the future the competitiveness and quality of their products will be greater and better," he explained.

From the four-day exhibition, starting from April 11 to April 14, 2018, it is targeted to attract 25 thousand visitors with a turnover of IDR 4 billion, where in 2017 this event achieved a turnover of IDR 3,2 billion. "Various events will also enliven this exhibition, such as discussions with large UMKM players, and meetings buyer with online market players (online)," added I Wayan.

Various UMKM products such as processed food, fashion to agriculture are said by I Wayan Dipta to have great potential. The contribution to the national economy is also very high, reaching 60 percent and absorbing 113 million workers.

"On the other hand, the government will also provide assistance, promotion, training, product certification and capital assistance, so that these MSMEs will be more creative and innovative," he explained again.

"Through this exhibition event, in the future it is expected that UMKM players will be more competitive, more creative and innovative in presenting their products so that UMKM can also support the national economy and penetrate the global market," he concluded. (say/yon)
