Malang City Government Receives Working Visit from DPR RI Legislation Body

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government received a working visit from the Indonesian House of Representatives Legislation Body at the Malang City Hall Meeting Room, Monday (16/4). This working visit was in the context of monitoring and reviewing Law No. 20 of 2013 concerning Medical Education.

The head of the DPR RI Legislative Body delegation, Arif Wibowo, in his speech stated that it is the duty of the DPR RI Legislative Body to carry out monitoring and review.

Educational institutions that have medical study programs or the Indonesian Doctors Association as the parent organization of doctors are expected to be able to create program outputs that can improve the abilities, skills and professional expertise of a doctor while increasing their quantity. "The number of doctors in Indonesia is not comparable to the number of residents," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH welcomed the working visit of the Indonesian House of Representatives Legislation Body this time. He said that Malang City as a City of Education has many universities. Of the 61 universities in Malang City, some already have a Faculty of Medicine.

Based on data from the Health Service, the ratio of doctors to residents in Malang City still shows a figure of 1: 10.000 to 15.000, while the ideal ratio target is 1: 5.000.

Through this activity, Wasto hopes to be a means of communication and discussion in order to produce a strategic policy in overcoming problems and preparing a better quality of medical education that will lead to an increase in the level of public health. (cah/yon)
