Malang City Achieves Best Governance Performance

Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Director General of Regional Autonomy (Otda) Ministry of Home Affairs Sumarsono, at the Regional Government Performance Appreciation Night event held on Wednesday (25/4) at the Sultan Hotel Jakarta, emphasized that regional autonomy is encouraged to strengthen national programs (Nawacita).

"There are three things that we encourage to be able to grow in the regions as a support for the success of national programs, namely innovation power, participation level and the degree of community absorption of regional programs," explained Soni, the nickname of the Director General of Regional Autonomy, starting the symbolic procession of the presentation of regional government performance awards.

It was reported that on the 22nd anniversary of Regional Autonomy in 2018, the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs designated three provinces, ten cities and ten districts as the regions with the best performance in Indonesia.

Malang City is ranked first among the ten cities selected with the best performance for the regional government implementation report throughout Indonesia. Followed by Makassar City, Surabaya City, Blitar City, Gorontalo City, Semarang City, Bandung City, Tangerang City, Samarinda City and Parepare City.

Meanwhile, the recipients of the district-level awards were Sidoarjo Regency, Tulungagung Regency, Karanganyar Regency, Banyuwangi Regency, Malang Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Kuningan Regency, Kudus Regency, Bulukumba Regency and Bone Regency.

At the provincial level, the winners were East Java Province, West Java Province and Central Java Province.

“So this is it work big, not only from the perspective of the Ministry of Home Affairs, but also an assessment involving other ministries," he added.

Meanwhile, the Assistant for Government and Social Welfare of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Drs. Abdul Malik, M.Pd., admitted that he was proud of the achievements of Malang City. "This is the result of joint work, creative work, and as conveyed by the Director General of Regional Autonomy, emphasizing that strong innovation is present in Malang City and the involvement of Malang City residents in development is very high," explained Malik in response to the success of Malang City.

This award ceremony was also marked by the launch of an Android-based application, namely the Regional Autonomy Interaction Media (Mesiotda) Chat (M-Chat) by the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, Tjahjo Kumolo, accompanied by the Governor of East Java, Soekarwo.

Mesiotda Chat is a breakthrough in e-Government-based communication technology and a central-regional coordination instrument as part of regional autonomy interaction media.

For information, the East Java Provincial Government plans to hold a Regional Autonomy Day Ceremony and give awards to high-achieving regions on Friday, (27/4) at the East Java Governor's Office. (say/yon)
