Lowokwaru, (malangkota.go.id) – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Puan Maharani was present to give a scientific oration at the 88th graduation ceremony for the Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programs of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, period II of 2018 at the UMM Dome, Saturday (12/05/2018).
According to Puan Maharani, she has an emotional closeness to Muhammadiyah. Because her father "Soekarno" or "Bung Karno" was a Muhammadiyah cadre.
In her speech, Puan Maharani said that in the current era of globalization, Indonesia really needs the role of a great and tough young generation. This is very important to increase competitiveness with other nations.
"Reliable human resource (HR) capabilities are needed so that Indonesia can compete in the global era. The role of higher education is currently needed," he said.
In front of 1.264 graduates, Puan Maharani expressed her appreciation for Muhammadiyah's role so far. Where Muhammadiyah has a very extraordinary role in realizing quality education.
UMM has worked together well to build human resources in Indonesia, so that it can become a quality generation. He also advised the graduates to continue to fight to maintain the good name of UMM which has been realized well so far.
Meanwhile, UMM Rector Drs. Fauzan, M.Pd said, UMM is currently continuing to strive to educate its students as best as possible to be able to compete in the global era. Currently, UMM has also received a license certificate to the UMM Professional Certification Institute from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).
"UMM has the right to organize professional certification for its graduates. This means that UMM can help graduates gain national and international recognition," said Fauzan, who was showered with applause from the graduates and their parents who were present.
In addition, the event was also attended by the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.AP. In his presentation, the Minister of Education and Culture said that this UMM graduation was extraordinary, because it was attended by many national figures. The presence of these figures is expected to motivate UMM alumni to achieve achievements.
"Show off with confidence how UMM can produce a generation that can uphold the sovereignty and greatness of the nation," said Muhadjir.
With the skills they have, the Minister of Education and Culture hopes that UMM alumni can continue to work and raise the great name of UMM wherever they are.
"UMM alumni must continue to be pioneers for the progress of the nation in various fields," he said.
