Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Representatives from various sectors, including school principals throughout Malang City, university leaders, the Malang City Forkopimda, religious leaders (toga), and community leaders (tomas) agreed to prevent and tackle various acts of radicalism and terrorism early on.
The signing of the Joint Agreement on Prevention and Handling of Terrorism and Radicalism in the Framework of Realizing a Conducive City of Malang was carried out in the Meeting Room of Malang City Hall, Wednesday (30/5/2018).
Behind the label as the City of Education with many elementary to tertiary educational institutions, there is the potential for the growth of the seeds of radicalism and terrorism. Given that one of the modus operandi of left-wing adherents is to target young people since they are in school.
From the agreement, the concrete will begin when accepting new students which includes tracing the origins of prospective students and students. "When introducing the school and campus environment, it will involve the toga-tomas, as well as the TNI-Polri to provide various supplies, especially related to nationalism and patriotism," explained Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahid Wahyudi, MT after signing the agreement.
Related to this, he continued, cities labeled as Education Cities are one of the soft targets for spreading and growing new followers of radical teachings. "That is why the Malang City Government is making various efforts for anticipation and early prevention, such as through this joint agreement," he added.
Furthermore, the Acting Mayor of Malang who is also the Head of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency hopes that with this commitment and joint agreement, it can prevent, overcome, and suppress indications of radicalism and terrorism. "So that in the end it will also help create a conducive situation. And from educational institutions, a generation of the nation will be born that is progressive and has the soul of Pancasila," he concluded. (say/yon)
