Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The troop roll call ahead of the 2018 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) was held at the Gajayana Stadium in Malang, Tuesday (26/6). This roll call was held in order to ensure the 2018 Malang City Pilkada was held safely and conducively.

The troop review was carried out directly by the Malang City Police Chief AKBP Asfuri, SIK together with the Commander of the 0833 Malang City Kodim, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Nurul Yakin, MA. With this troop readiness roll call, it is hoped that the security of the Malang City Pilkada can run optimally.

AKBP Asfuri revealed that there were 816 personnel on standby to maintain security for the election of the Mayor of Malang and the Governor of East Java which was held on June 27, 2018.

465 police officers were assigned to Polling Stations (TPS), while others patrolled to monitor the situation and conditions during the voting process.

"The 816 personnel came from a combination of members of the Malang City Police, Linmas, Satpol PP, and two company-level units (SSK) of the TNI," explained AKBP Asfuri, Tuesday (26/6).

Starting Tuesday (26/6), all personnel involved in implementing security have been put on alert by the Police and are directly attached to each sub-district. Likewise, when there is a shift of ballot boxes to TPS, security personnel will also shift.

With good preparation, it is expected that all personnel deployed will be able to map vulnerabilities in order to know the dynamics and phenomena that occur in society. Security officers must maintain a commitment to neutrality and be able to increase awareness of potential terrorism.

"All personnel must prepare mentally and physically. We are entrusted by the state to maintain security," he stressed again.

The consequence of that mandate, he continued, is that all personnel must be able to be the front guard in maintaining security. All TPS must still be considered vulnerable to increase vigilance without the slightest negligence. (cah/yon)
