Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The 2018 Panji Nusantara Festival held in several areas in East Java attracted a lot of public attention. The performance of original Javanese cultural arts or more specifically those originating from East Java and already recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also involved artists from several countries.

In addition to being a means of preserving national culture, this event is also to collaborate on foreign cultural diplomacy and as a means of establishing and strengthening relations at the international level between various nations, especially in the field of arts and culture.
The 2018 Panji Nusantara Festival was held in several areas in East Java, namely in Pasuruan, Malang City, Blitar, Tulungagung and Kediri. This cultural arts performance from East Java was also attended by hundreds of artists from neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Germany.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Service (Disbudpar), Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si in the middle of the event, Monday (2/6) evening.
Ida added that the Panji Nusantara Festival has been recognized by the world, namely UNESCO, and is spread across various countries, so that countries such as Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia have their own banners that can be displayed at every art performance.
In Malang City, Ida continued, the Panji Nusantara Festival held at Taman Krida Budaya East Java, Monday (2/6) was attended by two countries, namely Cambodia and Thailand. "The story of Panji has also spread to the Netherlands and Germany, so in the next event they will be presented," he added.
"From this event, in addition to being a means of preserving culture, it is also to collaborate foreign cultural diplomacy, so that beautiful and diverse cultural arts are born. Although it is the first time it has been held, this event will be held routinely every year and will become a cultural agenda, and has value in the international class," said Ida.
Through this Panji Nusantara Festival, he explained, it is hoped that the traditional arts and culture of the Indonesian nation will be well maintained and better known by nations in the world. On the other hand, with this event, it will further strengthen the relationship between this nation and various other nations, especially in the field of arts and culture. (say/yon)
