Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Office Holds Batik Training

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Enthusiasm was evident in the Job Development and Training activities for Prospective New Entrepreneurs held by the Malang City Cooperatives and Micro Business Service at the Pelangi Hotel, Tuesday (3/7).

Participants enthusiastically participated in the batik training.

Presenting an experienced instructor, namely Siti Malikhah, the participants of this batik training carefully followed each training process.

Siti Malikhah said that the batik training this time was to create simple batik designs, one of which was a sketch of a Malangan motif.

"We hope that after completing today's activities, participants will be able to make good motifs," Siti hoped, Tuesday (3/7).

He added that after participants received material on making motifs, the next day they would receive material on canting, then after that coloring, locking the color, and finally removing the wax from the cloth.

"The prospect of batik is still very good. Especially in Malang City with the uniqueness of the Malangan Mask, it can still be explored and explored, so it has a high selling value," said Siti.

From her experience, Siti said that batik with a distinctive regional nuance is still highly sought after. That is why even though the Manggur Batik she manages is sold at a price of Rp 150.000 to Rp 3,5 million, orders for Manggur Batik have continued to flow.

By focusing on making typical Malangan batik, it is hoped that in the future Malang City can have its own icon in the field of batik that distinguishes it from other regions. The hope is that Malang's unique culture can be preserved while also being able to improve the welfare of the Malang community through batik.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cooperatives and Micro Business Service of Malang City, Dra. Tri Widyani Pangestuti, M.Si in her speech said that batik is one of the riches of the Indonesian nation that has noble value and high economic value.

"Intentionally, in this activity, batik training is directed at batik making typical Malang mask patterns so that in the future it can become a separate icon for Malang City," said Tri Widyani.

To improve the skills of Malang City batik makers, the Malang City Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Service will also bring 30 of the best participants from each training class to learn more about batik making.

If there are no obstacles, next year the selected participants are planned to attend batik training at the Yogyakarta batik training center. (cah/yon)
