Acting Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji giving a speech

The event was packaged in the 2018 Hajj Pilgrimage Facilitation activity in Malang City which was organized by the Public Welfare and Community Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat.

Acting Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji, Head of the Administrative Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of East Java Province Amin Mahfud, and Head of the Social Welfare and Community Affairs Section of the Malang City Secretariat Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM were also present on this occasion.

"On behalf of the government (of Malang City) and the people of Malang City, I would like to say goodbye to the group leaders and team leaders of the 2018 Malang City Hajj pilgrims who this time have the opportunity to accompany and guide the Malang City Hajj pilgrims, in order to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam," said Sutiaji.

The Acting Mayor also prayed that Allah SWT would always provide blessings and protection, especially when carrying out his duties in the Holy Land until he returns safely to his homeland and reunites with his family.

The bespectacled man added that the higher the public's enthusiasm to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, the greater the problems that arise related to providing services to prospective Hajj pilgrims, starting from departure, carrying out worship in the holy land until returning to their homeland.

"For that reason, the existence and role of the group leader and squad leader are very much needed in helping to provide services related to various needs for prospective hajj pilgrims in order to facilitate the implementation of the hajj pilgrimage," he explained.

Sutiaji also hopes that the group leaders and squad leaders will have a strong commitment to serving and honoring the guests of Allah SWT, and can provide assistance and resolve various problems faced well and wisely.

"Indeed, all of that requires hard work, patience and fortitude in facing and resolving it. Maintaining health also needs to be considered in order to carry out their duties well," he said.

"In addition, it requires reliable, intelligent and responsive personal skills in responding to problems that occur. Every officer must believe that every problem must have the best way out in solving it, and every problem that occurs has wisdom that will make us better in carrying out the mandate of this noble task," he added again.

Togetherness, communication and coordination of one command for Hajj pilgrim services, according to Sutiaji, is a smart strategy that is right for success in implementing Hajj pilgrimage assistance.

Meanwhile, Head of Social Welfare and Community Section of Malang City Regional Secretariat Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM said that there were 1.352 prospective hajj pilgrims from Malang City. 15 pilgrims departed in group 19, while 1.335 other pilgrims departed in groups 24, 25, and 26 with 30 group leaders and 121 squad leaders.

"The purpose of holding this activity is as a form of respect and congratulations to the squad leader and group leader and to instill a sense of brotherhood among them," said Alie Mulyanto. (say/yon)
