Tarakan (malangkota.go.id) – The tradition of planting trees continues to be maintained in every agenda of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (Apeksi). This time the tree planting activity at the 26th Apeksi Rakernas in Tarakan City took place at the Binalatoeng Camping Ground, Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, Thursday (7/XNUMX).

The location that is still in the development process is on the route to the Amal Tarakan tourist beach area. 98 mayors who are members of Apeksi or their representatives carried out simultaneous planting according to the types of tree seedlings available in their respective areas.
Starting the tree planting process, the Chairperson of the Apeksi Board of Directors, Airin Rahmi Diany, emphasized that the spirit of preservation must continue to be encouraged.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of the City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH representing the Acting Mayor of Malang revealed that the city with its urban characteristics, the aspect of green open land is often a separate thought. Therefore, planting trees in every Apeksi Rakernas activity is a commitment of all mayors to bring the environmental insight mission to every regional development.
"Urban farming, the green village movement, to the realization of a healthy school environment are part of realizing the development of Malang City with an environmental perspective," added Wasto.
The Regional Secretary of Malang City, who is fond of running, said that the strategy for arranging green areas in a city cannot only rely on adding land (quantity) but must also be strengthened with a quality strategy through the utilization of existing land, modifying residential areas to be beautiful and optimizing city parks.
"We (Malang City) have added the Green Open Space (RTH) area which is now Merjosari Park. With an area of two hectares, Merjosari Park also functions as the city's lungs so that Malang City feels cooler," he explained.
According to this friendly man, the creation and arrangement of city parks is part of the development of the green city program which is also a central issue at the Apeksi National Working Meeting.
Efforts to create city parks and green open spaces are a program option that continues to be pushed. In Kedungkandang District, Malang City, for example, eight hectares of land is also used as a city park.
The vast land is mapped into several parts. Some are used to plant fruit trees, other types of standing trees and flower plants.
He added that until now the Malang City Government is still mapping other areas that are still empty, so that greening efforts by increasing the creation of city forests continue to be increased. (say/yon)
