Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) has a number of programs to suppress inflation rates in order to maintain economic stability. One of the leading programs of the Malang City TPID in realizing this is by implementing the urban agriculture program or what is known as Urban Farming.

Acting Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji when met on the sidelines of the National Coordination Meeting on Inflation Control in Jakarta, Thursday (26/7), said there were a number of reasons why urban farming selected as a flagship program to reduce inflation rates.
He said, as a tourist city and educational destination with quite rapid development, it will have an impact on the high demand for food commodities compared to other cities in Indonesia.

Urban farming This is realized by utilizing the existing and not so large land to plant various food commodities such as vegetables and fruits. "The goal is not only to meet food needs and increase community income. But also to make the environment of Malang City greener and healthier," he said.
This flagship program received a positive response from the Malang City Government which participated in making it a success. Government support such as green environmental competition activities, the Sustainable Food House Area (KRPL), strengthening the Kampung Glintung Go Green (3G) initiative was very well responded to by the community and the Malang City PKK Team.
"This urban agriculture is an important program in reducing the impact of inflation. Therefore, the government as an economic stabilizer is required to have anticipatory steps in controlling prices and involving the community to play an active role through urban farming this,” he explained further.
During this time the location urban farming has been distributed in five sub-districts throughout Malang City. In detail, in Klojen Sub-district there are 13 locations, Lowokwaru Sub-district 11 locations, Kedung Kandang Sub-district 11 locations, Blimbing Sub-district 13 locations and Sukun Sub-district 13 locations.
"We hope the program urban farming "This is able to answer challenges in the economic and environmental fields as well as being a manifestation of the great initiative and participation of the community," he explained.
