Haedar Nashir, M.Si when delivering the PNational Speech 'Strengthening Progressive National Values Towards Golden Indonesia' at the Dome of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Sunday (12/8).
Haedar on this occasion revealed that the national speech he delivered this time was to welcome the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. He hopes that in this increasingly mature age, Indonesia will be more advanced and able to compete with other nations. "Indonesia is a gift from God, a vast archipelago," Haidar explained, Sunday (12/8).
Haedar said that Bernard HM Vlekke in his book entitled Nusantara 'History of Indonesia' expressed his amazement about Indonesia which is larger than the land that forms the continental United States without Alaska.
Indonesia's natural wealth is truly extraordinary, and according to him, this is an incalculable expanse of God's blessings. As illustrated in the lyrics of the legendary music group Koes Plus, 'people say our land is heaven, wooden sticks and stones become plants'.
"From this reality, it is fitting that on the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2018, all the nation's elites and Indonesian society as a whole reflect on Indonesianness," said Haedar.
"All elites and citizens of the nation must be held accountable for realizing a truly independent, united, sovereign, just and prosperous country," he continued.
Especially entering the political year of 2019, Haedar hopes that all parties can maintain civility, togetherness, peace, tolerance, virtue and virtue in the life of the nation and state. Political contestation does not need to be the cause and bring about a situation of rift, conflict, and hostility between national groups. (cah/yon)
