This was conveyed by the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs, Soni Sumarsono, after giving a guest lecture at Brawijaya University, Malang, Thursday (20/09). According to Soni, not only the government and educational institutions, the private sector and the younger generation have a big role to make all of this happen.

There are two important things related to reform, especially bureaucratic reform and it is related to universities that provide various opportunities. "First, we have now entered Industry 4 (the fourth industrial revolution), where the needs of graduates from educational institutions that will be absorbed by the industrial world are very different from the previous era," said Soni.

In this context, he said that mastery of information technology is more important and needed by the world of work. This is in contrast to the availability of workers or graduates from educational institutions that are less in accordance with the demands of an industry.

He added that educational institutions must be able to respond to this situation and prepare their students better to suit market demand. "Such as making changes to the curriculum, orienting themselves to industry needs and adding various skills, to prepare them to enter the challenges of the global era," explained the bespectacled man.

Secondly, Soni continued, for bureaucratic reform, where all activities have also begun to implement modern technology such as for... e-Planning, e-Budgeting and e-Controlling, so that anyone who masters information technology and has skills will continue to exist and be able to answer the challenges of the times.

"From all of that, it will overhaul all work systems from manual to automatic or what has been a long bureaucratic flow to be short, so that it is more effective and efficient. In this transition period, relying on intelligence alone is not enough, and it is hoped that various parties will realize all of that, in order to answer market needs and answer the challenges of the 4.0 era," concluded Soni.
