Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – From the 535 Temporary Candidate List (DCS) for Malang City DPRD Members 2019, finally on Thursday (20/09) at the Atria Hotel, the Malang City KPU officially determined 529 people in the Permanent Candidate List (DCT). The decrease in number according to the Head of the Malang City KPU, Zainudin, was because during the DCT process there were several legislative candidates who withdrew or were crossed out by the supporting parties.
In relation to this, various supporting parties have fulfilled the requirements to cross out their legislative candidates, such as providing a letter of dismissal from the party to the KPU, or a death certificate for candidates who have died. On the other hand, for various reasons, there are several legislative candidates who have personally resigned.
Zaenudin added, out of 529 legislative candidates, 12 have legal problems. However, because the supporting party did not cross them out or replace them, they have the same rights as other legislative candidates and can still participate in the 2019 legislative election contest.
"So far, there is no rule prohibiting legislative candidates who are involved in legal problems and have not been legally binding to participate in the democratic party. Indonesia is a country of law, so everyone must obey and implement existing and applicable laws," he added.
When asked whether there will be a special mark on the ballot paper for these problematic legislative candidates and according to the discourse circulating so far, Zaenudin said there is still no such thing. However, if the regulation later appears, then his party will adjust to the legally binding regulation.
From these various things, Zaenudin hopes and appeals to all parties not to respond excessively, because everything has its rules. "Thus the democratic party will run well, especially Malang City will remain safe and conducive," he concluded. (say/yon)
