Just as the art of wayang performance that tells a lot of the history of the nation in the past should not be extinct and forgotten by the next generation of the nation. As ordered by the first President of Indonesia Soekarno who said never to forget history.

At least that is what was conveyed by shadow puppet activist, Denis Suwarno on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Taruna Krido Roso (Takir) Studio in Lesanpuro Village, Saturday (22/09).

The opening of the studio, he said, will also be continued with a shadow puppet show with the play Gatot Kaca Lahir by a young puppeteer from Malang City. The event is also to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1440 Hijri.

Suwarno further said that later there will be four young puppeteers who will perform the story, and among them there is a 6 year old young puppeteer who is still in the 1st grade of elementary school.

Meanwhile, regarding the theme or title taken, according to Suwarno, it is an effort to raise awareness among the public, especially young people, about how important it is to remember and preserve history.

"Through this activity, we hope that various arts and cultures, especially the art of wayang kulit will continue to be preserved and loved by the community, especially the younger generation. On the other hand, professional and talented young puppeteers will continue to emerge," concluded Suwarno. (say/yon)
