2018 Bhayangkara City Championship, an Event to Find Potential Badminton Players

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City Police together with the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) of Malang City held the 2018 Bhayangkara Malang Open Badminton City Championship (Kejurkot) at the Kanaya GOR, Malang City, Wednesday (26/9).

This Kejurkot also received attention from the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who is also known to be very fond of badminton.

Sutiaji's presence was enthusiastically welcomed by the badminton players who appeared in this event. In his speech, Sutiaji expressed his deep appreciation for what the Malang City Police did by holding the Bhayangkara Cup badminton championship.

"With the many badminton championships in Malang City, we hope to produce many new athletes with achievements," hoped Sutiaji, Wednesday (26/9).

Not only providing support by holding a badminton championship, the Malang City Government is also trying to further improve badminton achievements in Malang City, namely by adding training facilities and competition venues. Currently being prepared is on the third floor of one of the malls on Jl Kawi, Malang City.

Meanwhile, Malang City Police Chief AKBP Asfuri in his speech revealed that the Bhayangkara City Championship will take place from September 26 to September 30, 2018.

"Although this championship is the first time it has been held, the enthusiasm of the participants is extraordinary. This championship was attended by 500 badminton players," explained AKBP Asfuri.

He said that this championship was held with the aim of finding new seeds of skilled badminton players who can later excel in the national and even international arena. This championship is also a place for young athletes who have been training in their respective badminton clubs.

"Our target through this championship is to find seeds that can be the mainstay of Malang City to face various championships, both at the provincial and national levels," explained AKBP Asfuri.

This championship will be held continuously and become a routine agenda of the Malang City Police and PBSI Malang City.

From several tournaments in Malang City, said PBSI East Java General Chair Wijanarko Adi Mulya after conducting observations there are several that have great potential. Therefore, coaching for athletes will continue to be carried out so that Malang City can again produce reliable and accomplished badminton players. (cah/yon)
