Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The inauguration of the Head of the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Malang City for the 2018-2023 period was held in the Meeting Room of Malang City Hall, Wednesday (3/10). Elected as the Head of Baznas Malang City is H Sapardi S. Ag, while Drs. H. Sulistyo was elected as the deputy chairman.
Present at the inauguration were the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji, Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, Regional Secretary of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH, Head of the Public Welfare and Community Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM, Chairman of the East Java Province Baznas Dr. H. Abd. Salam Nawawi, M.Ag, Chairman of the MUI of Malang City KH Baidlowi Muslich.
The inauguration began with the reading of the decree on the appointment of the leadership of BAZNAS Malang City which was read by the Head of Social Affairs and Community Affairs of the Malang City Regional Secretariat Drs. Alie Mulyanto, MM, the handover of the BAZNAS leadership decree, and the garlanding of the turban by the Mayor of Malang.
In the speech of the Chairman of Baznas East Java Province represented by Deputy Chairman II for Distribution KH. Abdurrahman Navis, Lc. MHI it was conveyed that zakat is not a duty of the general public, but in fact zakat is a duty of the government as in the time of Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz.
The role of Baznas itself is very important and will greatly assist the government because it is basically easier in terms of disbursement and easier in accordance with procedures.
Abdurrahman added that the East Java Province Baznas itself has five programs, namely Smart East Java, Prosperous East Java, Caring East Java, Healthy East Java, and Prosperous East Java.
"Last year, 9 billion zakat was recorded in one year from ASN. We hope that the Mayor of Malang will make a circular regarding zakat to ASN like what the Governor of East Java did to ASN who have reached the nisab and must deduct 2,5 percent as sincerely as possible. For those who have not yet reached zakat, they can carry out infaq and alms. "I hope that with the existence of Baznas, zakat can be really useful," he explained.
Meanwhile, in his speech, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, said that the amount of zakat from ASN in the Malang City Government is 3,5 billion per year. However, this is not something to be proud of, but must always be strengthened and developed from other sectors, one of which is through the 3S (One Thousand a Day) program per RW which will be coordinated per sub-district to help the welfare of the community.
"We will make a circular to all agencies in Malang City so that they can find out. cash flow "How much is the zakat potential in Malang City, so we should not only rely on regional income potential but also explore zakat potential," he explained.
Sutiaji also advised that when the muzammil has submitted zakat to the amil, the management of the Baznas amil must be able to map out which ones to prioritize, so that the goals and segments in hand must also be sustainable. (cah/yon)
