Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Miss Batik Indonesia-Malang Raya finalists held an audience with the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji in the Malang Mayor's Meeting Room, Friday (5/10).
This audience was also attended by the Head of TP PKK Malang City Widayati, S.Sos, MM, Event Conceptor of Malang Batik Parade 2018 Dorothy Soeryo, and the winners of the Malang batik design competition. Later, through the representative of Miss Batik, Malang batik can be introduced to the national and international scale.
Dorothy said that with the event and full support from the government, she hopes that Malang's typical batik can be recognized and become an inspiration for Malang's official uniform.
In the 2018 Malang Batik Parade event, he plans to bring Malang's distinctive batik to the national and international scale through SMEs in Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City.
"This seminar for UKM and batik designers is held so that we all become more familiar with the history of Indonesian batik and Malang batik. From the trends, batik fashion, and we will also hold a batik theme go online, go international," he said.
Responding to this, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, said that he would be serious and fully support the event so that Malang's batik can be better known. He also said that he would be serious in patenting the winning design of the Malang batik design competition so that it can be used as the official Malang batik.
"So, all winners will use their batik designs as the official batik of Malang City, schools must also use it, and use the same motifs," he explained.
In addition, Sutiaji on this occasion also touched on the direction of the central government which will allocate village funds like village funds. "In this case, a good scheme must be carried out, so that the funds can later be useful for regional development and community empowerment," he added.
Through Miss Batik Indonesia-Malang Raya, Sutiaji also hopes to be able to market and introduce Malang's typical batik and also become a national characteristic, especially a characteristic of Malang.
"There are several unique characteristics of Malang City that other cities do not have to be poured and introduced through batik, such as the Malang Monument, the canary tree, the banyan tree, and the rain tree that other regions do not have," concluded Sutiaji. (say/yon)
