Malang City Government Nominated for Two PUPR Ministry Awards

Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, Regional Secretary of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH, Head of DPUPR of Malang City Ir. Hadi Santoso received a team from the Ministry of PUPR of the Republic of Indonesia coordinated by the Expert Staff of the Minister for Social Culture and Community Role of the Ministry of PUPR Ir. Baby Setiawati Dipokusumo, M.Si along with the award assessment team.

The meeting began with a speech from the coordinator of the PUPR Ministry Award Team, Ir. Baby Setiawati Dipokusumo, M.Si.

It was conveyed that the purpose of the 2018 PUPR Award was to provide awards to Regional Governments (Pemda) that have implemented and innovated in organizing PUPR infrastructure as a practice, as well as a form of attention and appreciation from the Central Government to Pemda.

The purpose of this award, he explained, is to encourage and motivate the regional government to further improve the quality of PUPR infrastructure development, to capture the performance of the regional government in PUPR development in order to facilitate the central government in carrying out national planning and guidance, to increase synergy in PUPR infrastructure development between regional governments and the central government, and gradually the PUPR award will be used as a Branding PUPR-ness.

"It is a matter of pride for the City of Malang to be included in two of the three nominations for the 2018 PUPR Ministry award, namely in the category waste to energy and innovation category of technology application and PUPR infrastructure implementation. I hope that the achievements that have been achieved by Malang City will be an example for other cities in Indonesia," he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, in his speech said that the vision of Malang City is to become a dignified city. Dignity is essentially the embodiment and implementation of the obligations and responsibilities of humans as caliphs, to the people they lead.

"The meaning of dignity refers to a value of human self-esteem, which means nobility," he explained.

The real translation of the dignified Malang City, continued Edi, is the desire to achieve Malang City in the future, which can be called The Future of Malang which includes six concepts, namely Malang City Heritagee, Malang Creative, Malang Role Model Services, Malang 4.0, Halal Malang, and Comfortable Malang.

"Today is the 25th day of our leadership, and the Malang City Government will continue to be committed to continuing to innovate in order to realize the vision of a dignified city. God willing, it will also support Nawa Cita, the national agenda 100-0-100, and the achievement of the global agenda of sustainable development," he said.

"Our principle is that the success of the previous era will be maintained and what is not yet optimal will be improved together with all city stakeholders," continued the man who is familiarly called Bung Edi. (say/yon)
