MSMEs Must Be Able to Compete in Era 4.0

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji emphasized that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) continue to grow so that they can become a buffer for the regional economy.

This was emphasized by the Mayor of Malang when he was a speaker at "2nd International Research Conference on Economics and Business (IRCEB)" which was held by Malang State University at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Monday (22/10).

Sutiaji explained that so far MSMEs have been tested and can survive in fighting the global economic currents that continue to grow. So according to him, their existence must receive support from the regional government to the central government.

Several MSME problems, including in the field of capital, must have joint solutions between institutions, so that the actors in it are able to access capital with low interest or even without interest at all.

“This is a challenge for us how to make 2018 a starting points to advance our MSMEs," said Sutiaji.

It was also said that the spirit of developing MSMEs must be a shared concern so that this can be realized. Therefore, on that occasion, the Mayor of Malang encouraged the Cooperatives and Micro Business Service to continue to pay attention to and develop the potential of business actors in it. "I hope that in 2019, micro businesses can move up to medium class and so on," he hoped.

Sutiaji added, cooperatives as financial institutions are also expected to be able to synergize well with MSMEs. The goal is none other than for both to be able to support the economy, especially in Malang City.

"In the future, our MSMEs must be able to enter the 4.0 system and be able to compete in it, because it requires encouragement and policy touches and thorough preparation," concluded Sutiaji. (say/yon)
