Malang City Paper Umbrella Art Maestro Enlivens JKPI's Decade Anniversary

Surakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City took part in the 24th Anniversary of the Indonesian Heritage Cities Network (JKPI) which was held in Surakarta City from Wednesday (10/26) to Saturday (10/XNUMX).

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. Sutiaji and representatives from Malang City also enlivened the JKPI event. In fact, in the series of events, Malang City received an award for filling Master class about the heritage city in front of the participants.

The series of JKPI's Decade Anniversary was enlivened by several event starting from cultural titles, cultural parades, symposiums, cultural carnivals, UMKM exhibitions, city ​​tour until the congress. Malang City presents one of the maestros of paper umbrella art, Mbah Rasimun, along with his works in the series of events.

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji and the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP Widayati, S.Sos, MM had the opportunity to visit the Mbah Rasimun exhibition booth. He appreciated the work of Mbah Rasimun which is now in great demand by people abroad.

"Mbah Rasimun is a maestro of paper umbrella art, where he is consistent in creating his works," said Sutiaji.

Regarding Malang being included as a heritage city, Sutiaji said that this is capital to improve the social, cultural and economic aspects of the community through the heritage tourism sector.

"Of course, we must optimize this in the future, because it is a means for the Malang City Government to improve the tourism sector," said Sutiaji.

He explained that efforts to utilize the wealth of heritage assets as the highest wealth assets continue to be carried out through various efforts. One of them is committing to protecting the wealth of natural, cultural, and landscape heritage owned.

"The Malang City Government hopes that this event will be useful in efforts to build a city sustainably based on heritage," he said.

The JKPI Decade Anniversary event was opened with a gala dinner held at the Pendhopo Gedhe, Surakarta City Hall and attended by regional heads from cities/regencies who are members of JKPI on Wednesday (24/10) evening.

The Mayor of Surakarta, FX Hadi Rudyatmo, in his speech welcomed the regional heads who are members of JKPI throughout Indonesia. He added that initially, JKPI members were only around 11 cities/regencies, but now it continues to grow to 64 regions and that number will increase again.

"As the host, I welcome the regional heads, the purpose of this event is none other than to preserve our heritage and culture and bring it back to the community," said FX Hadi Rudyatmo. (say/yon)
