The Malang City Job Fair 2018 was attended by dozens of companies, each from Malang City as many as 36 companies, from Malang Regency eight companies, Pasuruan Regency three companies, Mojokerto Regency three companies and the rest from Batu City, Tangerang and Jakarta one company. In total there are approximately 4.000 job vacancies offered.

In his speech, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, revealed that Malang City is one of the cities contributing to the number of open unemployment in East Java. This is because there are many students who come to study in Malang City and after graduating from college look for work.

"As a result, when the survey and data collection were conducted, the number of unemployed people in East Java was quite large. The job fair with four thousand job opportunities is just one of the government's efforts to reduce unemployment," Sutiaji explained, Wednesday (14/11).

"So far, the Malang City Government has continued to strive to reduce unemployment rates. Opening a job fair is one of the steps taken," he added.

Not only job fairs, various other efforts are also being made, such as developing new entrepreneurship based on small and micro businesses and the creative economy industry.

"Malang City Government must be ready to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0. That is why there needs to be a shared spirit including one of them how to improve the economy and absorb unemployment figures," he said.

To the job seekers at the Malang City Job Fair, Sutiaji also provided motivation so that looking for work is not used as an effort to escape from unemployment status. The Mayor of Malang emphasized that job seekers must be able to create jobs in the future, because currently the market and opportunities are wide open due to the information era.

The bespectacled man gave an example of a successful entrepreneur from Tunggulwulung Village. Based on market analysis and good marketing strategies, the entrepreneur was able to generate billions of rupiah in turnover in less than a year when the business was founded.

“This is an example and motivation for you job seekers so that in the future they can create new jobs," concluded Sutiaji. (cah/yon)
