25 Sub-districts in Malang City Receive Anubhawa Sasana Awards

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights (HAM), Yasonna Laoly presented the Anubhawa Sasana Village/Kelurahan Sadar Hukum award in the East Java Province at Malang City Hall, Wednesday (21/11). In Malang City, 25 sub-districts received awards from a total of 57 sub-districts spread across five districts. Regarding the award, Minister Yasonna encouraged each regional head together with sub-district heads and village heads to conduct awareness programs and legal assistance, especially for underprivileged residents.

To be designated as a legally aware village or sub-district, Minister Yasonna said it must meet four dimensions of assessment, namely the legal access dimension, the implementation dimension, the access to justice dimension, the democracy and regulation dimension. "But the most important thing is a society that has legal awareness, because it is positively correlated with the progress of a nation," he added.

The establishment of legally aware villages and sub-districts is an effort to strengthen Indonesia's existence as a country of law that can be measured from the level of compliance and legal awareness of the community. "This is the key to creating a safe, orderly and peaceful state and community life and making this nation a dignified nation," he continued.

The bespectacled man further said that the higher the legal awareness of a nation's people, the more advanced the country is. He gave examples such as Japan, China, Singapore and Malaysia. "In an effort to build a legally intelligent society, the government is increasingly bringing closer and expanding access to justice, especially for the underprivileged," explained Minister Yasonna.

This priority is realized by increasing the number of verified and accredited legal aid organizations. "The poor sometimes become victims of injustice due to the lack of assistance from those who understand the law. Therefore, every regional head together with the sub-district head and village head/village head must carry out awareness programs and legal assistance to residents who are classified as poor," he explained further.

Separately, Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that winning this award was not instant. "Today we can be happy to receive this award, but tomorrow it can be revoked, because there is an evaluation. Therefore, in the future, we will strengthen the four main factors of the requirements for a legally aware village," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the 32 sub-districts in Malang City that have not received this award, Sutiaji targets that in the next two years they will be able to receive it and his party will make various efforts together with related ranks. "This program must of course be supported by all parties, especially the community, so that what is programmed can be realized properly," he concluded. (say/yon)
