Samaan Village Residents Declare Stop BABS

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The spirit of realizing a healthy and clean environment is being promoted by the residents of Samaan Village, Klojen District, Malang City. As seen during the Declaration of Stopping Open Defecation (Open Defecation Free) by Samaan residents attended by the Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, Wednesday (12/12/2018).

Declaration

The initiator of the event, Samsul Hadi, who is also the Deputy Chair of the Malang City Healthy City Forum, said that the declaration held was part of the commitment of the Samaan residents to help realize Malang as a Healthy City.

"Therefore, present and actively participating in the declaration were the RT Heads, RW Heads, LPMK (Sub-district Community Empowerment Institution) administrators, BKM (Community Empowerment Agency) administrators, the Tangguh Sub-district community, the Healthy City Forum administrators and attended and witnessed by the Lurah, Camat, and Disperkim. That shows our determination to help the Malang City Government program in the environmental sector," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, who is familiarly called Bung Edi, emphasized that environmental issues are crucial issues that must be of mutual concern.

"Yesterday when the 'flood' greeted the city (Malang), I and the Mayor (Sutiaji) felt sad. At that time, we both had official duties outside the city that could not be left because we were following the invitation of the ministry and also attended by the Vice President," he said.

But both of us (mayor and deputy mayor), said Bung Edi, are intensively following and continuing to communicate and instructing OPD to move actively. And from several reported factors, one of them is the problem of garbage which causes the flow of water in the gutters and drainages to not run normally.

"This means that the environment must be our common concern, and it requires joint work to strengthen each other. For that, I am present at this declaration event, because this is also an important part of realizing a clean culture and creating a healthy environment," said Bung Edi.

Specifically, the Deputy Mayor also invited Samaan residents to wage war on waste, including combating the behavior of littering.

After witnessing the declaration held in Samaan Village, Bung Edi had the opportunity to review the IPAL channel built in 2018 and to have a dialogue and greet the residents of Samaan, where one of them greeted specifically the disabled residents. (say/yon)
