Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – In order to support the food security and quality program, the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service held the Grand Final of the 2018 Food Ambassador Selection, Sunday (23/12/2018) at the Atrium Cyber Mall Malang.
The selection of Food Ambassadors was not only participated by students from Malang itself, but also by students from several areas outside Malang, such as from the cities of Blitar, Jember and Pasuruan.
Head of Fisheries Division of Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Agency, Atfiah El Zamzami, Food Ambassador is an extension of various programs initiated by Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Agency. "Thus, food security and quality can be maintained properly," he explained.
In addition, the selection of the Food Ambassador is also to overcome the limitations of ASN and agricultural extension workers, as well as limited land in Malang City. "With these various circumstances, a strategy is needed so that the food and nutritional needs of residents are well maintained," added Zamzami.
He further said that land limitations will impact on minimal rice production, so food diversification is needed. This means that the staple food of residents does not have to come from rice, but can be fulfilled with cassava, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
"Thus, residents who usually eat three times a day will be fulfilled, as well as their nutrition will be adequate. In other words, there will be no more hunger and/or malnutrition," he explained again.
These Malang City Food Ambassadors, he said, will later socialize the importance of food security and high nutritional fulfillment for residents. The Food Ambassadors must also invite and be the vanguard in these efforts which can be started from the environment where they live and where they study.
In addition to continuing to strive to maintain food stability and this food ambassador, Zamzami said, the existence of the Food Ambassador will also strengthen the food security program.
He admitted that the Food Ambassador is still at the city level, but in the future if there is a higher level, namely at the provincial and national levels, then Malang City is ready to participate and compete.
The participants who were selected as the first place winners of the 2018 Malang City Food Ambassador were Iqmal Mailiyin-Cintia Aisyah Saraswati, the second place was won by Lintang Subekti Putra-Dayinta Hindradini, and the third place was won by Putra Adi Pamungkas-Ayu Dhea Fatma.
In addition to receiving trophies, these winners also received coaching money. Among these finalists, Talented Food Ambassadors, and Favorite Food Ambassadors were also selected who were assessed online and Friendly Food Ambassadors. (say/yon)
