Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Saber Pungli (Clean Sweep of Illegal Levies) Team conducted a socialization of extortion prevention, Thursday (27/12/2018) targeting a number of agencies. In addition to making civil servants aware of the limits and rules related to extortion and corruption through this socialization, it is hoped that a clean government will also be created.
"On the other hand, if extortion and corruption can be avoided, it will also strengthen public trust in state institutions in working to serve the community," said one of the investigators of the Malang City Saber Pungli Team, AKP Budi Winarto after the socialization event in the hall of the Malang City DPRD building.
To prevent extortion and corruption, especially in vulnerable agencies, the Malang City Saber Pungli Team is conducting socialization of various regulations. Such as at the Immigration Office, DPRD, National Land Agency, Samsat, and other agencies.
"Extortion occurs due to many things, such as an agreement between the giver and the recipient, not understanding the rules, because of habit and also intentionally even though they know the rules," explained AKP Budi Winarto.
From this extortion act, he continued, in addition to being detrimental and burdensome to the community, if left unchecked it will lead to corruption and will damage the joints of life. "An act can be called extortion if the action taken is not listed in the applicable legal regulations," added AKP Budi.
When public officials carry out extortion and this leads to corruption, he said, public trust will decrease.
"With this kind of socialization, starting from public officials, they should no longer carry out extortion, let alone actions that lead to corruption. Thus, the public will believe in the performance of state servants which can ultimately produce a clean government or service," concluded Budi. (say/yon)
