Surabaya – East Java Provincial Government Holds Award Ceremony for Supervisors Occupational Health and Safety (K3) to the Regent/Mayor, Zero Accident Award, Implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health System Occupational Safety and Health Management (SMK3), as well as the HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Program (P2HIV-AIDS) in the Workplace at Companies for the 2018 Period at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya, Friday (1/2/2019).

The Mayor of Malang as the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Supervisor received an award from the Governor of East Java along with nine other regents/mayors. Namely the Mayor of Surabaya, the Regent of Gresik, the Regent of Sidoarjo, the Regent of Pasuruan, the Regent of Lamongan, the Regent of Tuban, the Regent of Mojokerto, the Mayor of Madiun and the Regent of Blitar.
The award presented by the Regional Secretary of East Java Province Heru Tjahjono was received by the Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko representing the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji.
Regarding this award, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, who is often called Bung Edi, said that by receiving this award, it is hoped that it will motivate companies in Malang City to continue to improve occupational health and safety so as to achieve zero accidents, implement HIV-AIDS prevention and control programs, and implement the K3 Management System (SMK3).
"Occupational Safety and Health in the company is the responsibility of the company owners. Malang City Government will continue to facilitate workers to obtain K3 in their workplaces," explained Bung Edi.
Meanwhile, in the speech of the Governor of East Java read by the Regional Secretary of East Java Province, it was conveyed that implementing an occupational safety and health (K3) culture in a company is not easy and cheap, but K3 will guarantee that every production resource can be used safely and efficiently.
"For that reason, the implementation of K3 and SMK3 in companies cannot be ignored and will become one of the normative obligations that must be fulfilled by companies to protect their assets and human resources," said Heru reading the speech of the Governor of East Java.
The award, continued Heru, is an effort to cultivate K3 in companies and Regents/Mayors, as well as to give appreciation to all work partners who have helped development in the employment sector in East Java.
An invitation was also conveyed to further increase the motivation and commitment of all company leaders in East Java and to be able to improve the K3 culture to encourage productivity and competitiveness in the international market.
Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office of East Java Province, Dr. Himawan Estu Bagijo, SH, MH, in his report said that in 2019, 637 awards for K3 Supervisors, Zero Accident Awards, SMK3 Implementation, and HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Programs (P2HIV-AIDS) in the workplace were presented to companies for the 2018 period.
