Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – A conducive situation is the key for East Java to be better at controlling inflation. The 2018 inflation achievement pushed East Java's inflation lower than the national one, this was revealed in the Capacity Building of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) throughout the Working Area of the Bank Indonesia Malang Representative Office held at the Aria Gajayana Hotel, Monday (4/3).
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji revealed that the Malang City Government has continued to strive to control inflation so that it remains low and stable. This effort cannot be separated from the support and cooperation of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office through its important role in the TPID forum.
"The achievement of inflation in Malang City has so far been in line with the national target. Throughout 2018, Malang City inflation was recorded at 2,98% (year over year). "The inflation is below the national inflation realization of 3,13% (yoy) and below the national inflation target of 3,5% plus minus 1%," explained Sutiaji, Monday (4/3/2019).
As the Head of the Malang City TPID, Sutiaji said that he greatly appreciated the efforts to control inflation through the Malang City TPID forum which was the result of coordination and collaboration between the Malang City Government and the Malang Bank Indonesia Representative Office, as well as all related stakeholders.
"The Malang City TPID always intensively coordinates to control the risk of price increases, whether caused by shocks (shocks) of the scarcity of supply of goods/commodities, or the risk of price increases from the demand side caused by seasonal patterns such as Eid, Christmas, and New Year holidays," said Sutiaji.
The development of inflation in Malang City until February 2019 remained under control and supported the achievement of the 2019 inflation target of 3,5% ± 1% (yoy).
Based on the BPS Malang City inflation release, in February 2019 Malang City was recorded to have experienced a price decline or deflation of -0,42% (mtm) which was the deepest deflation in East Java, in contrast to the previous month in January 2019 Malang City experienced inflation of 0,53% (mtm) which was the highest inflation in East Java.
Malang City's annual inflation to date has reached 2,21% (yoy), down from the previous month's inflation of 2,81% (yoy). (cah/yon)
