Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – One of the priority programs of the Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Malang City Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) is repairing water channels (drainage) so that when heavy rain occurs there is no puddle of water on the roads or even flooding.
However, when this program was running, many iron rams covering the drainage were lost because they were stolen by irresponsible people. Therefore, all elements of society must have a sense of ownership and maintain so that the incident of the loss of iron rams covering the water channels does not happen continuously.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City PUPR Ir. Hadi Santoso, Saturday (23/03/2019). He said that for the past three weeks, dozens of iron rams have been missing.
The locations are on Jl. Ijen, Jl. Basuki Rahmat, Jl. Trunojoyo, Jl. IR Rais and around the Tlogomas area. Various efforts have also been made by the DPUPR so that the incident of the loss of the iron ram does not happen again, such as replacing the drainage cover ram with copper material which has a cheaper selling value when compared to iron.
"However, this effort was unsuccessful, because there were still incidents of theft," said the man who is familiarly called Soni.
The iron ram covering the drainage, he explained, is very important as a filter for dirt when it rains and when water enters the drainage channel.
"Although the loss due to theft is not too big, the existence of this drainage cover ram has enormous benefits. This is what the public needs to be aware of and know," he explained.
Regarding this, Soni admitted that he had coordinated with related Regional Apparatus Organizations such as the Legal Section of the Malang City Secretariat and the Malang City Transportation Agency. Currently, in several strategic places there are CCTVs installed by the Transportation Agency.
"We will take advantage of this so that we can reduce or even prevent theft of the iron rams covering the drainage," he explained.
"In addition, we will also intensify supervision and invite various parties so that the theft incidents do not happen again. We also ask the public to supervise various infrastructure developments in Malang City, especially this drainage cover," concluded Soni. (say/yon)
