Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City chose the Car Free Day area on Jl. Ijen Malang City to hold an event titled Pemilu Run Malang Mbois, Sunday (07/04/2019) because it was considered very effective and efficient to convey various information and messages and invite the public to come to the TPS (Polling Station) on April 17, 2019.
In this event, young people and new voters are the main targets so the event is packaged with a youth nuance with various entertainment.
As conveyed by the Chairman of the Malang City KPU, Zaenudin, the CFD area of Jalan Ijen, Malang City is always crowded with residents from Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City, as well as other areas, so it is the main choice for the Malang City KPU to conduct socialization.
Although the main target is young people and first-time voters, voters outside of these two groups will also be affected and will follow this election socialization program. Not only through speeches on stage, the KPU also conveys various messages and invitations to vote through the music performed, so that the socialization is more effective.
"On April 17, the KPUD is targeting a participation rate of 80 percent, and it is hoped that this figure will be contributed by young people and new voters," Zaenudin hoped.
What the election organizers did received a positive response from the participants of the activity, because thousands of people appeared to participate in the Election Run. Young people and new voters felt the need to participate in conveying their political rights on April 17. They also admitted that they already knew the track record of the candidate for leader who would be elected, and rejected any golput.
As conveyed by Qonita Azahra who is a new voter and Inos as a millennial. According to both of them, abstaining from voting is not the right choice and coming to the TPS on April 17 is an obligation for citizens who have political rights. "As the younger generation, we must set a good example, because our voices mean a lot to the future of this nation," said Inos.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Malang City Wasto, SH, MH also appreciated what was done by the Malang City KPU, because all groups were affected by activities like this. Wasto also advised all levels of society to always maintain conduciveness, and not to be easily provoked by news that is not necessarily true.
"We should not be easily divided by irresponsible parties. Different choices are natural, and make it a unifying factor for the nation," he advised.
Not only inviting people to come to the TPS, at this location the KPUD also installed a large replica of the ballot paper and invited them to fight and ward off fake news or hoaxes that have been haunting the community. The community is required to be smarter, wiser and more prudent in responding to various things, because in a situation like this, approaching the implementation of simultaneous elections, anything can happen.
