In the speech of the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, which was read by the Mayor of Malang, it was conveyed that the commemoration of National Education Day cannot be separated from the figure of Ki Hadjar Dewantara.

Some of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's views are 'Panca Dharma', namely that education needs to be based on five principles, namely freedom, nature, culture, nationality and humanity.

The second is 'Con-3', namely that the implementation of education must be based on the principles of continuity, convergence, and concentricity, in the sense that the education process needs to be sustainable, integrated, and rooted in the earth where the education process takes place.

And the third is the 'Tri-Center of Education', namely that education should take place in three environments, which we know as the tri-center, namely the family, school and community environments which are symbiotically related and cannot be separated from each other.

"The ideas and educational principles of Ki Hadjar Dewantara are the basic reference for the vision of President Joko Widodo in the field of education. In the President's vision, the future of Indonesia is very much determined by the current generation of students who have strong character or morals, and master various fields of life skills, vocations and professions of the 21st century," explained Sutiaji reading the Minister of Education and Culture's speech.

In order to realize this vision, the Government is preparing to carry out national education reform both at the conceptual and managerial levels. At the conceptual level, efforts are currently being made to make character the foundation and spirit of national education. Therefore, character building must begin and become a priority at the elementary education level. (basic education).

Then for further education levels must be conducive for students to actualize their potential as much as possible. Allowing students to equip themselves with highly competitive skills and expertise, which are needed by the 21st century world only with strong character and highly competitive abilities will today's students be able to bring the Indonesian nation to stand tall among other advanced nations in the future.

The theme of National Education Day this time is closely related to the phenomenon of a world that is changing very quickly and demands higher quality. Because of the presence of the industrial revolution 4.0 which has influenced the way of life, work, and learning and is able to influence the way of thinking, behaving, and character.
