In addition to giving speeches and holding up a number of pamphlets, the journalists held a theatrical ruwatan as a symbol so that acts of violence and intimidation against journalists would not happen again.

The latest case of violence against journalists occurred while covering International Workers' Day on May 1, 2019 in Bandung.

The journalists are Tempo Prima Mulia photographers and journalists . Iqbal Kusumadireza (Reza). Reza's legs were injured and bruised and the documentation on his camera was deleted by a police officer. In relation to this, journalist alliances almost all over the archipelago held peaceful demonstrations, including journalists in Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City.

That was what was conveyed by the action coordinator, Abdul Malik on the sidelines of the peaceful action which was also supported by campus journalists (students). In addition to giving speeches in turns and unfurling a number of pamphlets, these media crews held a theatrical ruwatan action.

Malik said that this Javanese tradition is meant as a symbol so that violence and intimidation will not happen again in the future. "Journalists are not thugs and are one of the media control, voicing and informing the people. Journalists or the media are not figures to be feared or intimidated," he added.

According to data from the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), between May 2018 and May 2019, 42 cases of violence against journalists were recorded. In the future, it is hoped that there will be no more similar cases so that journalists who work protected by law can carry out their profession well and without being haunted by fear. (say/yon)
